JD.com, much like sector peer Alibaba, is an interesting thematic play on China. But unlike Alibaba, JD.com is focused on first-party sales and owning the logistics infrastructure, rather than building out a platform.

This means the economics take longer to come through, but the moat is arguably wider. Does this make JD.com a worthwhile contender for a long-term lens on China?
